What Bot Lens reads

When you click the extension on a page, Bot Lens may read:

  • the current page URL, title, headings, links, images, metadata, visible text, and structured data;
  • the page's raw HTML response, when it can be fetched by the browser;
  • the site's robots.txt, llms.txt, and sitemap.xml files;
  • basic response headers used for SEO checks, such as content type, cache control, ETag, Last-Modified, and X-Robots-Tag.

Bot Lens uses this information only to generate crawler, SEO, GEO, and audit views for the page you are checking.

What stays local

Bot Lens does not create an account, collect analytics, track browsing history, or send page scans to MOONQUEST servers.

The scan is processed in your browser and is kept only in the active tab's extension session unless you choose to copy or download a report.

Network requests

To compare what a crawler can read, Bot Lens may ask Chrome to fetch the current page and the current site's public crawler files. Those requests go to the site you are scanning, not to MOONQUEST.

If you click a Bot Lens link that opens botlens.moonquest.dev, your browser will make a normal website request to that site. That request may include standard web request data such as IP address, user agent, referrer, time of request, and the URL being requested.

Clipboard and downloads

Bot Lens can write a report to your clipboard only when you click a copy button. It does not read your clipboard.

If you download a report, the file is saved by your browser and remains under your control.

Sharing

MOONQUEST does not sell, rent, or share Bot Lens page scans, browsing activity, or personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

We may process standard website request logs through our hosting and security infrastructure when you visit our website.

Retention

Bot Lens does not store scan history on MOONQUEST servers. In-tab scan data is temporary and can be cleared by closing the page, refreshing the page, or disabling the extension on that page.

Website request logs, if generated when you visit botlens.moonquest.dev, are kept only as needed for security, debugging, and operating the website.

Chrome policy

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Bot Lens requests Chrome permissions only to run on the active tab after you click the extension and to inject the page overlay used for the scan.
